Sushi com Farofa is a playful visual identity created for a Japanese-Brazilian who shares her life experiences in Asia. The name itself blends two iconic dishes — sushi and farofa — symbolising the fusion of Japanese and Brazilian cultures. The identity combines cheerful colours, kawaii-inspired visuals, and bilingual typography to reflect themes of cultural connection, warmth, and everyday storytelling.

MOODBOARD
The moodboard reflects the joyful, multicultural spirit of the brand. At its centre is the colour palette, which draws inspiration from sushi and farofa. Surrounding it are references that guided the visual direction: the Potta One font showing Hiragana and Kanji (Google Fonts); a hand-drawn food collection by Freepik; a kawaii facial expression by Freepik; a photograph of Brazilian farofa on Flickr by Barbara Dieu; a kawaii sushi collection by Freepik; and a sushi nigiri image from Wikimedia Commons. Together, these elements create a playful, approachable aesthetic grounded in both Japanese and Brazilian influences.
COLOUR PALETTE
The colour palette was designed to highlight both the Japanese and Brazilian roots of the project, drawing directly from food references as well as national colours.
Orange Peel (#FF9907): A bold orange, inspired by salmon in sushi.
Naples Yellow (#F4D84E): A bright yellow, representing farofa and also evoking the Brazilian flag.
Alice Blue (#EBF5FF): A soft white-blue, echoing the rice in sushi and creating balance in the palette.
Forest Green (#479349): A fresh green, recalling the spring onions in farofa while also referencing the Brazilian flag.
LOGOS
I created three options of logos for 'Sushi com Farofa': a wordmark, a mascot, and a lockup that combines the wordmark and the mascot.
WORDMARK
The wordmark features the title Sushi com Farofa in orange (#FF9907), written in Romaji. Beneath it, the name appears in Hiragana, rendered in yellow (#F4D84E). This combination reflects the project’s bilingual nature and mirrors common anime or manga titles that incorporate both Romaji and Japanese script. The result is a logo that bridges languages while retaining a casual, familiar style.
MASCOT
The mascot is a kawaii-style salmon nigiri, designed with a mischievous yet endearing expression. Its wide smile contrasts with frowning eyebrows, giving it a playful, defiant personality. The nigiri is accompanied by a portion of farofa, reinforcing the cultural fusion at the heart of the identity. The mascot serves as a friendly face for the project, designed to be instantly recognisable and appealing.
LOCKUP
The lockup combines the wordmark and the mascot, uniting text and imagery into a cohesive visual system.
TYPEFACE AND FONTS
The visual identity uses a mix of expressive and functional typography to balance playfulness with readability.
Potta One: Used for the wordmark and recommended for titles. Its hand-drawn, rounded style supports the kawaii aesthetic while connecting to Japanese scripts, making it a natural fit for the project’s theme.
Montserrat: Suggested for body text and general use. This geometric sans serif complements Potta One with clean readability, ensuring that longer texts remain legible while maintaining a contemporary, approachable feel.
